Hebrews 6:4-6... and Snow!

This morning I took my sermon notes with me as I dropped Linda off at the church building, where she was practicing a song with our church kids for next Sunday morning.

The snow was falling. Predicted - 4-8" by the end of the day.

I pulled around the building and took this shot of our sanctuary windows.

I headed out to Bolles Harbor, and began to preach through my notes; I'm going to say something briefly about Hebrews 6:1-3 (as a continuation from last Sunday). Then I'm going to explain two kinds of from-God "signs."

I drove along the edge of Lake Erie, and pulled off to the side and took this photo of the lake.

The snow was now heavily falling - an inch an hour. I stopped many times to write down things I felt God was saying to me. Hebrews 6:4-8 is a passage that's much-debated. Tomorrow morning I'm going to present the best of what I can say about these verses. I am feeling excited about doing this!

I picked up Linda. We went to Walgreen's to get a few things. Then home. I thawed and boiled a bag of raw shrimp we picked up last night from Whole Foods. An avocado - sliced. A sumptuous Whole Foods orange. Linda and I ate together and watched, for the second time, "Beasts of the Southern Wild." It was more powerful for me than the first viewing was. Refuse to bow before fear...

I snowblowed the driveway and sidewalk. Then napped.

At 4:30 I took my camera into our backyard and walked through the deep, soft, pristine snow. It was shin-deep. Where it had drifted it was knee-deep. I'm guessing we've had at least 9".

I've got Christmas lights in one of the large pine trees. I took a few pics.

Then, one of my bird feeders.

Next - through our backyard towards the river.

Here's my prayer chair, by the river. I don't think I'll sit and meditate in this tonight.

Linda is in our living room playing the piano. I love listening to her. Yesterday I thought it was a cd - she was playing so precisely and beautifully.

It's 6 PM. In a few minutes I'm going back to my sermon. I'm going to transcribe the notes I took earlier today. God will give me some new thoughts - I'll write them down. These 4 verses are so challenging that I'll probably read some more sources I have on them.

If you're driving by look through this window and you'll see me at the computer.

Tomorrow morning: Can a Christian lose their salvation....
