Prayer Is the Soul of Religion (PrayerLife)

Dan, in Istanbul

"Prayer is the very soul of religion" - Auguste Sabatier (1897), quoted in The Psychology of Prayer: A Scientific Approach, by Bernard Spilka and Kevin Ladd, p. 1

What Sabatier means, I think, is something like this:

  • those who pray really, actually, believe in God
  • people who pray live out of the center of their Jesus-faith
Prayer is the nephesh, the psuche, the inner fire of the God-relationship.

As you pray you are tending the fire within.
