Ethics Cannot Be Deduced from Science

"Ethics cannot be deduced from science."
- Philosophy of Science: A Very Short Introduction, by Samir Okasha (University of York)

Correct. This point will have to be spoken over and over and over again in the face of some who will wrongly claim that science can give us morality.

This is bad news for the atheist-as-philosophical-materialist (hence real atheism), because on this all that is, is matter and its various configurations, with science being the hermeneutical tool. Which leaves morality out.
