Adoratio, Ergo Sum

I worship. Therefore I am.

This is the thesis of James K. A. Smith's Desiring the Kingdom: Worship, Worldview, and Cultural Formation. Smith speaks of "the primacy of worship over worldview." And, we are to "read" culture through the lens of worship.

All this is because persons are, essentially, Homo liturgicus; i.e., lovers and liturgists.

For me, at this stage of my spiritual development, Smith's voice rises to the top of the list. As I've repeatedly said, his Thinking in Tongues is the book of the year.

Adoratio, ergo sum.
