At Redeemer we're preaching through the "new humanity" verses in Ephesians. These are unity and community realities, about what life looks like in the kingdom of heaven.
Life in God's beautiful kingdom is: life together. Real "Church" is a "body" of Jesus-followers being corporately built up, in Christ and with Jesus as our Head. People have always needed authentic community; God invented "church" as the way to build it. When Jesus said "I will build my church," he had in mind the things Paul writes about in Ephesians.
Listen to how Dorothy Day once described community: "Heaven is a banquet and life is a banquet, too, even with a crust, where there is companionship." (Dorothy Day, The Long Loneliness)
