In Prayer, Remember (PrayerLife)

Monroe County
Moses said to the people, "Always remember this day. This is the day when you came out of Egypt from a house of slavery. God brought you out of here with a powerful hand." (Exodus 13:3)

Whenever I join in the Lord's Table, I remember. In particular, I think of two things.

First, I think of Christ on the cross, paying the price I should have paid. To redeem me. To purchase me out of bondage to sin and death. As I hold the bread I think again of my 41 years of Jesus-life, and my rescue. This runs deep in my soul.

Secondly, I think of the redemptive particulars of my life. I remember that day, walking from my apartment, early in the morning, all by myself, into the campus of Northern Illinois University. I remember praying "God, I now know you are real. Save me! Jesus, inhabit me. If you do this I will follow you the rest of my life." I remember that He did. He remembers that I have.

Never forget the day you got delivered out of Egypt. Give thanks to the God who rescued you.

When praying today, remember the mighty acts of God in your life.
