Christianity and Culture Wars

Cancun

I'm speaking once (on "Blessings and Curses" as acts of either positive or dystopian faith) and also doing two workshops at our Wisconsin conference beginning tomorrow. One of my talks will be "Christianity and Culture Wars."

Culture wars have always been with us. This is because everyone has a worldview, and worldviews differ. At some points they may overlap and be complementary, at other points they differ and conflict and clash. So the fact that there exist culture wars is not weird; it's to be expected.

In my workshop I'll do my best to explain the current cultural air we breathe, and how as Jesus-followers we ought to respond.

Two background resources I'm reading to assist me in understanding are: How (Not) to Be Secular: Reading Charles Taylor, by James K. A. Smith; and Culture and the Death of God, by Terry Eagleton (see Eagleton's book reviewed here).
