The God-burdened Heart

Flowers, in our back yard

The word "intercession" means: "to come between." To pray, in the sense of interceding for someone, means to come between that person and God, on that person's behalf. In intercessory prayer one stands in for someone else.

Lloyd Ogilvie defined "intercessory prayer" this way: Intercession is not so much placing our burdens on God's heart but "God putting his burdens on our hearts." (In Sam Storms, The Hope Of Glory: 100 Daily Meditations on Colossians, Kindle Locations 575-577)

How does this happen? I see the God-burdened heart arising from the God-presenced heart. Only the person who consistently and deeply abides in the preence of the Almighty will encounter and experience the people-burdens that lay on the heart of God.

There is much to be prayed for today. As God puts his burdens on your heart this will be your life of prayer.
