Disciples Kiss It Goodbye

Maumee Bay State Park, through a window screen

A few weeks ago, on a Sunday morning before I preached, I asked my church family a question: "What was your 'first love' like?" Meaning, when you first loved Jesus, and were loved by him? One of our young adults, Josh, answered, "Nothing else mattered."

Nothing else but Jesus mattered.

Me too. I was "all in" for Christ. Everything was changing.

Being a follower of Jesus has this quality. I like how Jesus says it:

Simply put, if you’re not willing to take what is dearest to you, whether plans or people, and kiss it goodbye, you can’t be my disciple. (Luke 14:33, The Message)
